Nissan Altima Consumer Reviews By Year:
2005 Nissan Altima

NEW FOR 2005

All Altimas receives exterior styling enhancements, including new smoked headlamps and taillights, new wheel designs and a restyled front fascia and grille, along with a much needed interior redesign. The 3.5-liter V6 gets five more horsepower and three more lb-ft of torque, for a total of 250 and 249, respectively, and is now available with a five-speed automatic transmission. A new performance-oriented SE-R model joins the lineup along with a leather-lined 3.5 SL model. A newly optional DVD-based navigation system and two new exterior colors round out the changes.

PRO

Sports car power in a midsize sedan body, excellent handling, roomy and comfortable interior, high level of features, distinctive styling.

CON

Considerable road noise, overboosted steering, no stability control, ABS still an extra-cost option.

fun to drive a 2005
I've wanted an Altima since the 2002 model debuted. So glad I waited till the 2005 model got here! I bought mine earlier this month. Notice how the former orange lights have changed. The two red lights on the rear show up beautifully against the polished pewter exterior. The seats are very comfortable, especially on a long drive. Love the radio/CD controls on the new Y shaped steering wheel. I like the redesigned hood and grill. I had been planning to make a good deal on an '04 Altima, but the new '05 hooked me.

One of the best
I think the new changes that Nissan has made to the 2005 Altima are fantastic, I love the new interior and the smoked out front lites are a treat. To see, and drive this vehicle is to love this vehicle.

Nissan Altima 2.5 S is worth a look !!
I thought the car drove excellent,,,I thought i would miss the V6 option,,,But it wasnt sluggish at all,,,the 175 HP was plenty for a 4 cyl. When driving it, with windows up you could hardly hear the road noise, let alone the engine whinning up thru the gears....I was trying to buy a new car and to stay around $20,000 or so on a 4dr sedan....Im glad i chose the Altima , over the Sonata, Mazda 6, Camry or Accord,,,All these cars start over 23,000 except for the Sonata and thats standard,,,But the upgraded exterior is for the younger driver in his/her 20's n 30's...I car fit my buget and im very happy with my purchase

My new Altima
Excellent Space Design and overall Value! traded in my 1993 Maxima and have the same interior space with 15 more horses under the hood! The only downside is I have the 2.5 S model which is not as powerful immediately when stepping on the gas. I get about 24 miles to the gallon city and 32 miles highway! Good job Nissan!

Great car in and out...
I saw this car in the dealers lot while I was browsing through the Maximas, and I am glad I did. I always liked Altimas. Only turn off for me was the interior. This model has a interior just like Maxima, which looks very classy and sleek. All the controls and knobs are within comfortable reach. Exterior looks great. Interior is very roomy. Even after I test drove some SUVs, I felt very comfortable in this car. I purchased the 2.5 liter because of the price distance. However, I still think the engine performance, especially high speed, is wonderful.

Wow, Now it has everything.
I always thought the Altima was a nice looking car, but felt it had a cheap looking interior. Then I ran into the new 2005 model...the 3.5 ltr (6cyl) engine is now blowing out 250 horses, and has a new interior. I bought the new 3.5 SL (Sweet Luxury). I love sitting at stop lights waiting for some fool to come and race me. Even on the hiway, I drive the speed limit until fools try to pass me on the right...then ZOOM I am gone. The new wheels are a nice touch as well...look a little more like customized wheels. Also the BIG BOY "BOSE" stereo has one of the finest sounds no extra stereo components needed here...it gives off a LIVE sound when you crank it up.

best for the money by far
I have owned bmws, hondas and nissans in the past. I would have to say that the nissan is the best car for the money. So many features offered on such a value packed car. Navigation, xenons and 250hp are amazing to have on a car that is under 30k.

Interior
The interior is perfect - it is large and very comfortable inside - I like the convenience of the radio controls on the steering wheel - the car ride is comparable to a much larger car - has very good pick up.

An excellent buy
Just purchased the vehicle last week, and this one is much better than my 2002 Altima by all means! The interior is as good as the the new Honda Accord and it handles like a German vehicle. Anyone shopping in this segment should take a look at this vehicle, compare this with Accord and Camry side by side, you will find the Camry is light year behind in design and chassis dynamic. The only real competitor is only the Accord, but the exterior design of the current Accord is just as exciting as a speech from President Bush!

Nice car
I love the car. My only concern is the gear shift. Third gear does not work as smooth as I would like. Perhaps it just needs to work its way out. So far I have 300 miles on it.

The wait was worth it
I ordered my Altima specifically to get the 3.5SE in black with the 5spd manual. It is probably the most fun car I have ever driven. Every time I get in I just smile. The imprvmnts over the 04 model is worth forgoing the 04 finance option and getting the 05. If you are thinking of getting a Maxima, definitely look at an Altima too. I have driven both the 04 Maxima, 04 and 05 Altima and can tell you a fully loaded Altima beats a basic Maxima any day, especially since it is 27K for a loaded Altima w/out Nav and 28K for a basic Maxima. Plus the Alti beats the Max in the 0-60. OR just wait till the 05 Altima SE-R comes out in September. nissanclub.com

new improved exterior styling makes this vehicle much more masculine and interior materials are up to par with its competitors. fuel milage could be better for a 4 cyl. abs should be standard. otherwise much improvement over 2004 model.

Good Value
I test drove the Honda Accord and was pretty much set on leasing until I drove the Altima. The '05 Altima's new interior is very sleek, and not to mention comfortable. The 175hp 2.5 engine is very responsive both off the line and at highway speed.

My wife's possesive of it
We just love it. Was searching for an '04 but couldn't find one in silver with features we wanted. Found an '05 with what we wanted and negotiated a price on the spot, straight up. Has been 1 week now and my wife won't give it up, to drive:). Never offered an extended warranty and haven't had a follow up from dealer either. Just didn't seem to really care since they got my $, took their name off the back.

2005 Altima SL over Accord EX
Nissan has won me over. Having owned a '95 Acura Legend, a 2001 Accord, and a 2003 Oddessy, I was a loyal honda customer - the key word is 'was'. I test drove both cars, and felt the Altima was a better car in the top of the line trim vs the accord ex v6. The redesigned Altima interior for 2005 is a nice improvement, although some of the compartment doors still feel a little cheap. What sold me was the performance of the Nissan v6. It is smooth, throaty, and has gobs of power at the will of your right foot.

I Love This Car!
I went to the dealership looking for a new car. I thought I would get one that was a year or two old, maybe a Sentra. I thought what the heck, lets go ahead the test drive the new Altima, and I really liked it. There is a ton of room, it looks cool, and it is fun to drive. I would recommend the Altima to anyone looking to buy a new car!

Good and Bad
A nice car but the brakes on the 3.5L series are lacking.I have constantly had problems with the brakes since I hit 30,000 miles and they are under warranty. They have been fixed twice and a problem still is there. The dealer said they would fix it but they work for @ 2 weeks and the same old sound and feel come back.

Altima is only two weeks old today. So far it's been fun to drive. Gives you a sense of a muscle car with elegance. Solid built, sturdy and comfortable.

Great Car!
After test driving several new cars including the 2004 Maxima, Camery, Honda and a few others, the 2005 Altima 3.5SE was the clear winner. Solid, quiet, responsive and with all the whistles and bells you could ask for. This is a fun car to drive!

Just Test Drive It !!
This car i awesome. I test drove the Camry XLE V6 and then went to the Nissan dealer and drove the '05 Altima 3.5 SE w/Nav. No contest. If you want a powerful V6 with style and loaded with features this is the car. This car performs as good as it looks. Comfortable heated leather seats in front and a rommy backseat. Cost me $28k for a loaded 3.5 SE w/Nav & TCS/Side Airbags.

Love my Altima!!
I am in love with my car!! I look forward to getting off of work so that I can take a drive. It has such a nice look to it - both inside and out. My passengers enjoy it too. The back seats are very roomy. The trunk is HUGE! I never had a moment of buyers remorse. I am very happy with my decision.

Why buy anything else?
I was leasing a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT and was more or less pleased with it's performance....until I took out a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE for a test ride. I was astonished at the horsepower, feel, look and quality of this Altima given the asking price! I had to buy it...and I have had a hard time parking it at the end of the day! What a fantastic car!

Surprise Power
The biggest surprise is how much power this car really has under the hood. Solid from the minute you step on the pedal. Great lines and the interior is much improved over 2004. Very comfortable in the front seats as well as in the back. A Great Buy!

2005 Nissan Altima
This is my 3rd Altima, the 1994 I traded in gave me 150,000 miles of excellent service....I also have a 1999 with 40K that runs perfect! The new design and the large interior make a huge difference...This is much larger than the 99...

The car is quiet - smooth and steady. The acceleration is instant (& fun) and the breaking is extraordinary. It just is so effortless. An extreme pleasure to drive this BEAUTIFUL car.

A powerful elegant car
We bought the 3.5SL with everything but NAV. The interior is a vast improvement from previous years. It has a cockpit type feel to the front seats. The dashboard and controls are very well placed. The exterior styling is very nice with the few changes that were made. The xenons are very bright and look sharp. The most impressive thing I've noticed is the incredible power this car has. The handling is tight, but the SL doesn't have the sport suspension that the SE has so it is a little less tight in sharp turns. The 5 speed auto Sportronic transmition is very nice. This is a phenominal car with tons of extras for the price!!

New Customer Satisfaction
As a former owner of 2 other Nissan cars [Sentras],I needed more room. When learning of the NEW interior design of the Altima and already loving its exterior design, after taking a test drive I knew that that was the CAR for me. I took the car on its first ride with me to the White Mountains of New Hamshire with some Very steep grades. That 175 hp engine operated superbly especially when more torque was needed. It drives smoothly and handled the sharp turns safely and level troughout the turns at 40 mp.When I started I had 700 miles on the speedoeter. at 1400 miles reading I was

Got it Today!
Just picked up a 2005 SE 3.5 today. Traded the wife's 99 Pathfinder. Had an excellent experience with the dealer, Autoway Nissan of Brandon. The car is a kick. Wife almost went for the 2.5 SL but the lack of ABS swayed her to the 3.5. Smoke in color. A real head turner. Only question is, how do I get my wife to let me drive it..

Why not to buy Altimas from an Engineer
I have had multiple problems with my 2005 3.5SE. I have been to the dealer 4 times in 3 months for different reasons. Nissan consumer help is lacking in technical knowledge, and always says, "That is normal operation." The alignment will not stay straight, radio reception is poor, A/C won't shut off until the car is turned off, rear view mirror is impossible to see out of at night (dangerous!), glare from front and rear dashboards obstructs view, and it doesn't get that good of gas mileage. So overall, the designers of this car did not think through their comfort factor of the car, only the power and the looks.

I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We just bought our Altima 3.5 SL one week ago. It is loaded with everything except the navigation system, which would be great for some people, but for me it would be to distracting! I have never enjoyed driving a car as much as I do this one! It is comfortable, has a smooth ride and is FAST!! I'm afraid I am really going to get in trouble with this car!! I would encourage anyone looking for a new vehicle to take a look at the Altima. I started out looking for a Pathfinder. After I drove the Altima, I knew it was "the one". I can't wait to take a road trip in this car!

By Marija on March 18 @ 11:00 am
More than expected for this price
This car packs the standard features in compared to its competitors that need plenty of extra options just to match. Car handles unbelievably well and engine has just the right amount of power. Excellent road manners with right amount of feedback in steering wheel.

Awsome Car!!!
Peviously I had a 2000 Maxima GLE which was great. This Altima is a great car. I had hasitations about going from a Maxima down to a Altima but, I no longer see it as going down. The Altima is very roomy, great fuel economy, and handles well. The 2.5S although a 4 cylinder has great power and pep. This is my first Altima and I am very happy. I had thought about a Camry but, the ride is better in the Altima and more pep. Super Black is a great color as well. For the price, this is the car!!!

05 Altima
I bought my Altima last week, and I am glad I did. Had very good luck with our 94 Altima (owned over 8 years & put in $217 total in non-routine maint.). I drove several other cars (new and used), including Accord. No match in interior quality or driving experience. The car is very comfortable, even for taller people. Dealer made buying experience very enjoyable as well. I made correct decision in buying this car!!!

By new2Nissan on April 30 @ 11:00 am
What a fine car
Tested the Accord V6, Camry XLE, and Altima. Although the Camry got the nod in the fit, finish and overall comfort, it was no contest in the performance test. (Accord was close, and it does have XFM.) Having driven the Altima for about three weeks now only confirms the choice. It is a blast to drive. Solid on the interstate, in the city, and winding roads (CO 93 from Boulder to Golden). My wife absolutely loves it; she can't believe the performance and handling. It has instant power all throughout the range. The seats are really comfortable and I just can't believe the amount of interior space. The front passenger area is especially cavernous. What a fine car!

a lot of car for the money
This car sells well below cars in its class and believe me I've shopped around. It turns heads everywhere I go.And looks alot more expensive than it is.I love the styling from front to back. And inside there is a ton of room for a big guy like me.All the instruments are laid out nice and the ride is fast and crisp like and urban rocket.Trust me you won't be sorry if you get one.

Driveability, controlability plus visibilty were greater than expected. Using regular gas was a surprise. Bought in Phoenix and driven to Milwaukee the next three days at speed with nothing to complain about. Have 3600 miles and am pleased. Navigation unit was and is a puzzlement in spite of the big instruction book. Will find someone to help.

The Nissan Altimas are great. I love the gas milage compare to what I use to have to put in a Chevy Tahoe. Great Family car. I have two kids and they love it. The radio system is also great. Over all I think it's a great family car and looks very nice.

I'm on week 3 of my black, Altima 3.5, 5 speed manual and love it so far. The radio reception is weaker than what I would have expected but I'm enjoying the 6CD changer. Lower cost to own and fun to drive
I bought an Altima 2.5 with SL package after comparing the Accord and Mazda6. Insurance rates was a factor that made the choice for me. Quotes for the Altima were way lower than the other two cars. Although there are features that the Altima lacks compared with the Mazda 6 (Traction Control, Dual exhaust ports, sport shift mode), the bigger cabin space of the Altima, outweighs this. Compared with the Accord, I find the Altima a better bang for the buck even if the Accord has a 5 speed AT. 175 HP engine speaks well of itself. The car just goes when I step on the gas pedal. Sometimes too much that I often exceed road speed limits.

2005 Altima 2.5S, beats Accord or Camry
hands down, NO doubt. Got the car July,2005 with Convenience Plus Package! Car is so easy to drive, nothing harsh about it. All around spacious, including a sizable sunroof. Steering wheel and stereo looks more updated and pleasant than last year's model. Interior door latches wide enuff for big hands. Bluish tint on windshield helps against sunglare. Seats feels comfortable for long vacation drives. Tires are decent even in sudden down pours doing 75mph.

AWESOME CAR
This is my third Nissan. My first was a 1982 200 SX that went to 260,000 miles. I still have my 1995 200 SX that has 250,000 miles on it and still running. I know this Altima will run just as strong. I love my Altima! It's fast, fun to drive, comfortable and looks awesome! It just hugs the road and when you need an extra boost, it will not fail you. You will not be disappointed with this vehicle.

My 3rd Altima
I have owned 3 Altimas a 93, 02, and 05 and I love these cars. When I got my 02 it was pretty basic but I fell in love with the performance, stupidly I got rid of it for a truck which I later regreted. Which is why I decided to get my 05 and I am so glad I did. Unlike my 02 my 05 is loaded and its beautiful. I am very pleased with it

My 2005 Nissan Altima
I really love the power seats, sunroof, audio control on steering wheel and the smoothness of the ride, but I can find that on other vehicles. What I don't like about the 2005 Altima is the fact that it is actually too roomy for me. Another is the new cell phone recharger connection for the battery found in the middle arm rest compartment. I'm unable to close it while on the phone because the line for the charger prohibits this. It would've been nice if Nissan would've included an outlet or hole that would channel that wire through while the compartment is closed for access.

Wow! What a car!
Very surprising car. I previously had a Toyota Celica (2001) & was unsure of the performance this "family" car would deliver. What a pleasant surprise it has turned out to be. I have had the opportunity to test the handling on some of the curviest roads in WV & it has risen to the challenge. It also offers a very comfortable ride. I have taken it on several long trips this summer & have been very comfortable through out the trip. Gas mileage is just starting to come into its own, currently only 6000 miles, but getting over 30 mpg on long trips, should continue to improve.

Say NO to Accord and Camry! Pick Altima!
The design of the Altima is awesome verses Camry or Accord! Camry is a dime a dozen on the streets! Accord is too bland! Altima is the a head turner! The only complaint is the leather seats is a bit hard. I wish it was more softer leather. The 175hp 4 banger is a rocket! Smooth like a six and the fuel economy is super freaky good!! Also, disappointed in the "BOSE" system. Too hollow sounding for me. Can't adjust it for the rich sound that I'm use too. Lexus RX has a more awesome sounding system and it's not even a BOSE.

Awesome 2005 Altima
NOthing has taken my breath away, every morning since purchasing my Altima, I get excited to get in and just turn t on.The Interior is comfortable and well appointed, me being 6'4 I glide easily in and out of the car and there is plenty of leg room for me but as well as a passenger behind me. The Altima is quick to respond on the on ramp of the freeway and glides smoothly by onlookers due to it's sleek design. The is roadnoise but not alot, the radio makes up for it all and the dash board is very easy to figure out and all the controls are a fingers length away from the wheel. The Altima gets great reviews from this ex loyal Honda Owner.

Overall...great car
I always said that I would NEVER buy a new car. I've looked at many other new cars just for the sake of looking but I HAD to have this one. I considered a used one but with the revamped interior and only a 2000 price difference I decided to get the new one. Of course I don't get to drive it much, it's the wife's car :-) Can't really rate reliability considering it has 54 miles on it today.

By Urooj on December 10 @ 11:00 am
Fun but could be so much better...
A truly fun car to drive, however, there is considerable oversteer and the roadhandling is not all that great but the acceleration does put a smile on one's face. Interior cabin noise is fairly intrusive. The overall interior fit and finish is done well with some minor exceptions. The faux wood trim is -quite frankly - a little cheesy - choose the faux chrome, it looks better. All that being said - it is probably more fun to drive than its older sibling, the Maxima and several of its more conservatively styled competitors.

Bad Altima Experience!!!!!
Buyers Beware!!! I purchased a 2003 & was a lemon. (Radiator replaced 4 times in first year but kept leaking anti freeze) Nissan gave me a 2005 (at no extra cost)because they felt bad. My 2005 has less than 5000 miles and my radiator is again leaking antifreeze. (they claim it's the radiator cap). Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Good to go
Recently purchased a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE. Test drove both the 2.5 and 3.5. The 2.5 had fairly good pickup but was very noisy during acceleration. The 3.5 has much better pickup, is quieter, and has smoother acceleration over the range of driving conditions. If you’re looking at a 2.5S with convenience packaging you might want to consider the 3.5SE since the price is not that different. The gas mileage is posted at 20 to 30. I am getting around 22 – 23 around the city – better than expected with my lead foot. I recommend that you work with two or more dealerships to get the price down. I managed to pay invoice price after haggling between dealerships.

This car is fantastic. I was actually going to buy a TSX but was greatly dissapointed by its horrible engine. The idea of having to press the gas in all the way in to merge onto the highway is absolutely absurd. The interior is great, steering wheel design is awesome. Instruments are very nice, amber coloring is a nice touch and it is also very easy on the eyes. The seats are plush, but hold you in place while you are taking tight turns.

Altima is a fun car to drive, the first week I had it we took a little four day trip down through West Virginia. The Altima performed great on those narrow, curvey roads. I just love the auto but may not get to drive often as my wife has taken it over. HaHaHa

Perfect
The ride is so incredibly smooth. For the price, it is really fast as well. It's got 175 hp and V-Tec, so the pick up is nice. However, after about 40,000 miles, I noticed a slight increase in engine noise. Also, as I had never felt previously, I felt it change gears ever so slightly. This car is beautiful, I recommend it to everyone!

I love the body style over the other cars in its class. I would definitely recommend the Bose radio instead of the standard radio. I checked out the leather and its really not all that, so I got the fabric seats instead...so far so good with the car. I do wish that i bought the V6 instead, although the mileage is much better on the 4cyl.

Quest
I love this car. I am 6'9" tall and weigh 260lbs. and I fit super comfortably in it. The car drives excellent, handles great, and is very peppy for a 4 cyl. I was extremely surprised by it's ability to accelerate from a complete stop, as well as when I am doing 60 m.p.h. on the freeway, the ability to accelerate to 75-80m.p.h. I have recommended this car to several of my friends, and so far 2 have bought one, and they agree with my feeling about this wonderful economic big- little car. I am completely satisfied with my purchase, ABC Nissan, and Jim Meadows, who my sales person, and was wonderful to work with.

Great Car
As a former Accord owner I compared the Accord, Camry and Altima. No comparison. Styling, size, room were all superior in the Altima. Nissan seems to be leading the pack with giving the market an aggressive looking option in the otherwise mundane four door sedan market.

2005 Nissan Altima 2.5L
I've just purchased this vehicle about a week ago and I can't say enough positive things about it. Engine power is more than enough at 175hp, acceleration is brisk and braking solid. It's surprisingly good in the corners. Only detractors are the paint being a little fragile and the turning radius isn't the best for the size car that it is.

value
The altima was the best buy for the money in the cars that I looked at. It had the most space except for the paasat. I got the 4 cylinder which has some power. The 3.5 has quite a bit more but for 5 grand more. I did have a tough time in the s model trying to find abs as a option(I think it should standerd) like it alot so far and got lots of complements.

Fast, luxurious for the price, and VERY fun to drive. Pay the extra money for the 6 cylinder - it is so worth it.

Excellent car for your money. Usual Nissan dependability. Better looking that the more expensive Maxima. The 4 cylinder more than sufficient for city driving and saving gas with almost the matching power of a V-6

Finally got the grown up car
As soon as I got in the car it felt right for me. First of all it is roomy and it looks real nice with the black leather and sunroof. I traded in my Honda Civic. I was surprized at the price of this car. My payments are about the same as the Honda was, only a much better car. When I need power I have it. Just love the way it drives. It is also quiet. And looks great in the driveway. Ps: if you want better milage, try to keep the tack @ 2500 rpm's or less. I was able to get 30.5 mpg in this manner.

Altima deserves a look
The team at the Nissan Altima design and build studios have been listening to the reviews of the Altima. The 2005 is miles ahead of the 2004 in the interior. They have actually been implementing the ideas of the people who purchase the cars. The one thing they can't seem to address is the wind and road noise. I believe if Nissan could find a way to make the interior of the Altima more quiet, they would find themselves in the hunt with the Accord and the Camry. Everyone who owns a pre 2004 Altima should go to the dealership and take a look at the 2005's, I think you will be pleasently surprised by the new interior and the driveability of the new cars.

NOT AS GOOD AS A CAMRY...
Made a mistake buying this vehicle. I like the the exterior design. After 2 months, that's about it! The comfort level is beginning to fade and other things cannot compare to the Toyota Camry, which my wife has. The leather seats/padding are cheap hard leather. Compared to the plusher leather of the Toyota Camry. The more I drive the Altima, the more discomfort I am experiencing. As a previous review noted, the BOSE is dissapointing in sound quality. The dail controls are outdated as well. I am already selling this mistake. Sadly, the resale value, and response is a BIG FAT zero! I may trade it for a Toyota Camry soon! I will NEVER BUY a Nissan product again

My first car
I have been in love with this car since the day I got my liscense. Four years later, I finally bought the Altima and opted for the V6 (Great pickup 0-60 in seconds) and other upgrades. Considering I drive my mom's Yukon, the Altima is super smooth and even has more horsepower. I went for leather seats and when I saw my car for the first time, I was impressed at the 2005's luxurious interior design. It's truly a beauty. I would def. recommend this car in a heartbeat. It looks great, drives like a dream and it super fun and sporty. The car inside is a quiet ride and the car itself is surprisingly comfortable. A month later, Im still pinching myself.

I'll ready to SELL...
...my BRAND NEW Altima w/ the power and BOSE package. It was a mistake saving a few dollars. I should of bought a Toyota Camry, like I wanted originally. The body lines of the Altima is nicer, in my opinion. That's about it! After about 3 weeks, I'm sick of this Altima! NO power seat for the passenger seat. Camry has power seat for the passenger. Dail controls are out of date. The horn sound on the keyless entry system reminds me of Cheap domestic cars! Engine sounds kinda loud when you step on the accelerator. The BOSE audio system on my Altima has the worst sound that I've ever listen too on a car audio system. The window fogs, if you don't have the AC on.

By Vpmartinez on November 13 @ 11:00 am
Awesome Ride
Excellent, well built, and fun to drive car. Many standard features, and with the SL package, you get almost everything under the sun. Bose stereo w/6 disc changer is great. Little added features here and there also make the car an excellent pick. Style of the car and interior are unbeatable.

By Tazmania on November 13 @ 11:00 am
Not so good
I'll admit, I love the body design. After driving for about 3 months. The comfort & the details is failing to impress me. 1. No power passenger seat 2. Outdated dail type controls 3. Can't read the clock and radio display when bright sunny day 4. No day time running lights 5. Weak and lousy sound quality for a BOSE system 6. Still uses metal rod prop to keep the hood open 7. Climate / heat system keeps the front window foggy if the A/C is not on 8. Leather seats quality are worse than that of a cheap domestic vehicle 9. The horn sounding, when you activate the security system drives me nuts 10. NO resale value!

Altima offers tons for the money
I had previously driven an Acura 3.5 and was looking at the Maxima and other cars. By chance I drove the Altima and after the first drive was hooked. The Majestic Blue is cool and the car looks great. The drive is nice and the power is incredible for a 4 cylinder. It has as much as the Acura I had. The interior is roomy and comfortable. Best of all is the PRICE! Why spend $10 - $15K more. This car has it all.

Although the name on the back says Altima, this car ranks up there with the Acura TL, BMW 325, Infiniti G35 and the Maxima and for thousands less! I should know becuase I drove each of those cars before driving the Altima. I couldn't justify spending thousands more for less car. Unbelievable power from the 3.5 V6 and exterior styling is outstanding. You will definitly pay the price at the gas pump when deploying all that power. When driven aggressivley this car sucks the gas. I bought the 3.5 with navigation for $1,500 under invoice. I couldn't pass it up. Love my Altima
I just bought my Nissan Altime 2 days ago and I absolutley love it. Coming from a 03'Pontiac Grand Am I wasn't used to foreign cars yet, which I guess gives me more appreciation of them. I was between the altima and an acoord and by far just by looking at the accord there was no better choice. Everyone says side curtain airbags come standard on the accord but they don't the one I was looking at didn't even have it as an option. So by far there is no better choice then the altima at least in my opinion.

Needs improvements!!!
The 2005 Altima looks smooth and luxurious. The things I don't like, it's only because after driving this vehicle for a few months now. They are the display to the radio, when there is sun, you can't even see the radio station and numbers. Needs running daytime lights. The side mirrors needs to fold back, but don't. The temp controls are a bit outdated- I like the digital readout of the Toyota products, like the Camry, Lexus line. The radio reception is very static and poor. the passenger seat needs to be powered. I also dislike the horn sound of the keyless entry system as one review referred to. That's my pet peeves on the Altima.

My obsession
I am a college student and I firsat laid eyes on this car in 2002 when my friend convinced his mother to buy it as her new car. Ever since, I have been in love!!!! Juat watching him make a U turn in that car made me say DAMN!! Now this year I got my license and the first thing I did was rent the car for a week. That week turned into a month!!! The only reason I gave it back is because like I said I am a college student and plus I was mainly driving it to keep up my driving since I had to drive in Miami for vacation. Anyway the car is ridiculously sexy for one. It is definetely a head turner and just plain sexy.

I COULD NOT TRADE IN MY MAXIMA AFTER HAVING IT FOR ONLY 1 MONTH SO AFTER WAITING FOR OVER 8 MONTHS, LAST WEEK, I WENT AND TRADED IN BOTH MY 2001 ALTIMA AND 2003 MAXIMA FOR A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 3.5SE. Went to the dealer for a test drive and bought it on the spot. It looks great, it drives great and I can't recommend a more dependable car. I've owned 3 cars in the last 25 years (this is my 3rd)- all Nissans. It's a luxury car experience at a sedan price.

When i first purchased this car the first trip me and my wife took was from MD to Miami FL. The car drove great all the way and i can truly say the car is great on gas. I love the power of this car. Getting through traffic is fun. I must warn that torque steer is something to look out for when getting on the gas hard. I'm in love with my mystic emerald SL
I just recently purchased my 2005 Nissan Altima SL. This was an upgrade from a 99 Altima GXE. Boy what a difference... you can't even tell it's the same model. I love absolutely everything about my Altima, from the exterior styling, color, leather interior, steering wheel controls, power driver's seat, sunroof and definitely the Bose stereo system with 6 disc dashboard changer! But I have to say what sold me on this vehicle is the V6 3.5L engine with 250 horses. What a bang for the buck! I purchased my Altima for right at $25000, about $200 over invoice. My hubby and I thought this was the best value for a midsize sports sedan, and I feel comfortable with our decision.

There is absolutely nothing else to say about this car other than WOW. You need to get off your tail and go get one. I am still in shock that I own this car. Camry, Accord and the Mazda 6 aint got nothing on this car. Power, Design, Space, Did I say POWER, the inside design. If you are still reading this you need to go test drive one. If you test drive this car and not buy it you need serious help. I recommend starting this car and just listen to the engine roar.

Leaks Oil
I bought the car in September, 2004. Tow weeks later I found out that, it was leaking oil. My garage floor was full of oil. I checked the dip stick. It was below low. Anyhow, I towed the car to the dealership. They were not very nice to start with. Somehow they didn't know anything about customer service. Moreover, it took them 3 days to fix the leak (that's after I had a talk with the GM of dealer). At first, they told me they didn't know when it was gonna be fixed. I'm very unhappy with this car and the dealer. I will NEVER buy another Nissan.

Nice Car
I don't think safety features should be an option, they should be standard equipment. I was on a tight budget and chose the ABS/Side airbag option but would have like to upgrade to a convienence package. Overall a nice care for the money. Car has good power for a 4 cylinder engine.

Nothing to complaint
I had an Altima 03 but I think the interior design/quality is ok. So, when the 2005 is out, I went to see both Solara and Altima. The layout of Solara is as good as Altima. However, in my opinion, the quality used on Altima is better than Solara despite others comments. One of the obvious examples is that Solara just used all hard plastic on the door trim while Altima used leather with pad underneath of it. At last, I traded my 03 Altima for the 05 Altima.

Excellent model
I have had this vehicle now for 5 months and it still feels like it's right off the dealer lot. The interior is functional, stylish and modern and the exterior as well as the color (blue) doesn't get old. I have owned several Nissans in the past but this is the first Altima. Alas, my heart is set on an all-wheel-drive Maxima when they come out and I will reluctantly trade this in or sell it on the private market once that day arrives. But I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I have spent driving it. The only problem I have is that I did not purchase the 6-cyl to save money while waiting for the Maxima but sometimes the 170 horses is just shy of what's desired.

It is really nice to drive the new Altima. It turns on a dime and has a great pickup. I was really impressed with many of the features that are offered on the steering wheel. Nice to not have to look down at the CD or Radio to change channels or volumn. Seating is wonderful; not to mention the 4 doors are excellent for being able to drive the elderly around.

In the past I always bought Honda Accords. I took one test drive of the 3.5SL and I was sold. This car has incredible pickup. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly it goes 0-60mph. The exterior design is classic(esp. with the rear spoiler). The quality of the leather could be upgraded just a bit. Overall, very pleased with the preformance, comfort and value of this car....Highly recommended.

Pretty.....But Noisy Car!
At test drive, we loved the car. Great looking car..hard to beat in it's class! On the other hand, the car is very noisy; engine sound is high and road noise is higher! The rear end is light, and the trunk floor and jack bounce around. On a smooth highway, ride is nice, but once you get on the regular roads, you become conscious of the noise and the ride.It takes away from the sound system also. The steering does not feel like you are in real control!

Best performance for the money
Just as background, prior to this car I owned a Porsche Boxster S, a 911 Carrera and a BMW M Roadster. When we found out we were expecting our first child, I started shopping for a more affordable car with a back seat. I have test-driven and researched just about everything out there that fits that description. The Altima SE-R was BY FAR the most horsepower and torque for the money, not to mention features like CD changer, HID lights, and much more. I compared it to an Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Infinit G35 Coupe, and an Acura TL. The ones that rival the Altima SE-R cost about $6k more.

Pewter Plus
I really like the car. A lot of research went into the decision. Looked at Mazda 6(a bit small) and Hyundai Sonata(not available in standard) before deciding on the Altima. Altima had the size I wanted, plus the dealer agreed to the price I told him I would pay.

steering
I find the steering in my new Altima to be overly sensitive to the "crown" in the road. It pulls constantly to the left of the road although it is brand new and not out of alignment. I replaced ( under warranty) the two front tires as they were already showing signs of wear on the outside at 1500 miles! The tire co thought it was a radial pull causing the car to drift to the left but the replacement of tires changed nothing. I am at a loss as to what is wrong with this car.

Love My 2005 Altima
This is a fun, yet serious vehicle. My 2005 Nissan Altima is a sedan that has the feel of a sports car! In addition, I've never felt so safe in a car. I feel totally protected by the excellent construction of the vehicle and the state of the art air bag system. My last statement has been proven, sadly, by the fact that, just one month after purchasing my Altima I was broadsided by another vehicle and although the whole left side of my beautiful car was damaged, I walked away with only minor bruises. I was thoroughly protected by the left side air bags and was wearing my seat belt. Just that evening, Sun., Oct. 3, 2004, Dateline had a story on how side airbags are saving people's lives.

Unstable Rear-end at High Speeds
Drove car on trip with 5 passengers and luggage. At 70 MPH plus back seat occupants had a dizzy feeling during lane changes and stated the rear-end is swaying. After trip, tried to miss object in the road at 70 MPH and ended up skidding sideways into center grass medium. Made same maneuver as vehicle in front of me which handled just fine. No injuries but a lot of damage. Nissan rep. inspected car and found no part failures. I told Nissan it's a design problem and they sent me a mechanic. Edmunds.com (road tests) warns of the skittish problem and overboosted steering. I highly recommend careful review of these facts before purchase of this car.

I absolutely love this car. I can't wait to test the engine (still breaking in) but you know there is a lot of power waiting in the wings. The display for the navi/sound system has a nice day/night feature which helps reduce glare in the day and too much brightness at night. Dial controls for the auto climate control seems elegant. The Bose sound system is good but the bass seems very light unless you crank up the volume. My main complaint: the cheap parts (lock switch, dashboard, faux wood panelling, etc) are very noticeable. Hence, I gave it only a 9 in that regard. Otherwise, overall the car is worthy of the praises that it receives.

Had a leased Pathfinder.Rec'd an offer from Nissan early termination.Accepted and leased an Altima. The performance is good to excellent. Disappointed to discover hood & trunk lid are molded not metal. Had to replace rear bumper damaged because it could not be repaired during Hurricane Ivan. Discovered trunk lid was molded when I tried to affix a magnet. I feel the safety of the car is in question if hit from the front or rear because of the molded hood and trunk lid.

My blue Altima
I really like my car. I live in TN and I have already drove it to MI and I was very comfortable except for such a long drive I wish I would have had a more substantial seat. I love my blue color and with the way the lights are it makes it lots easier to wash. I almost bought something else but I sure am glad that I bought my blue Altima.

This car is a blast to drive. Handles like a small car but with lots of space. Leather seats are comfortable. Four cylinder provides plenty of power for me. Receiver works well. I love this car.

FUN TO DRIVE!
I TRULY WANTED THE 6 CYL 250 HP, BUT DID NOT WANT TO SPEND THE EXTRA 4,000.00. WHAT A SUPRISE AT THE POWER OF THE 175HP 4 CYL.THIS CAR IS FUN TO DRIVE. I KNOW IT IS THE BEST LOOKING CAR IN IT'S CLASS. THE INTERIOR IS VERY ROOMY,THE TRUNK IS LARGE. CRUISING AT 100 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE DID NOT BRING ANY VIBRATIONS,VERY SMOOTH RIDE.

Great value
I purchased my 2004 from a rental company and it already had 25000 mi on before I got it. 5000 miles later it still runs like new. Much quieter and much better fuel econ (27-28 mpg) than the Sable I got rid of.

AWSOME!!
Got the SL package after checking out the others in the lot. No comparison. The acceleration is unbelievable, and the interior (though we weren't looking at leather at the time) is nice and comfortable-the 'grab handles' are a must w/ the 3.5! Lots of bang for the buck. 0-80 happens before you have a chance to say "whew!- did you see that?" Very, very nice. Had the rear spoiler added at the deal,so no extra charge, which adds to the appearance of the nice lines this car already had. Oh- 4 wheel disc (ABS) comes in handy with this second-in- line four door sports car (behind the Max,of course...)

Stuck with a Lemon
My brand new Altima, less than 1K miles started making a loud noise, coming from the engine. Took it back to the dealer, they said it was the alternator. They had to order a new one. 4 weeks later still no part and the car is undriveable. I have received little satisfaction dealing with the dealership and even less dealing with Nissan USA. They don't know when the part will be in, meanwhile I have a car with 1,000 mile on it, that I am paying for and can't drive. They refuse to take the part out of one of the cars on their lot. Shows you where there allegiance lies, definitely not with the their purchasing customers.

Not your fathers Olsmobile
Ive had this car for two weeks and love it. It handles extremely well for a mid- size sedan. First tank of gas I got 25.3 mpg. I hope that will improve some as I expected to get around 28mpg. The stereo isn't bad for us 40 and over crowd. The trunk is huge. I wish I sent the extra $1500 for the convenience package. other than that it sure beats my Dodge Ram with the Hemi 14 mpg.

Slick Car - Why pay more
Purchased the 3.5 SE Sports Package plus with Xenon lights, Sun-Moon Roof, Spoiler & Bose 6 disc 8 speaker system a month ago and all is well. Though about leather seats, but did not want the cold or hot buns. Very fast and response car. If a engine makes a car, you've got a winner here. Great exterior styling, have gotten several thumbs up. Interior is nice. I professionally installed a portable Nav system (upper glove box) along with a hand free Moto V600 phone, and now the Altima has just about as many features as any BMW 3, Acura TL, Audi A4, but thousands less. The car looks bigger than Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Volkswagen Passat, and is the sportiest of them all. Slick car.

Pretty Happy after 1 week
Traded a a 99 Nis Max (with bothersome engine prolems)for this car. Wanted an 05 Pathfinder but too much $$ for it. Altima is roomier than my old Maxima. Love the styling, love the interior. Handling is awesome - better than old Maxima. Engine feels like it is more "spirited" than 99 Maxima's 195hp V6 but the Altima's 4 cylinder is more noisy - although the aggressive "growl" the motor makes somewhat fits the sporty character of the car. Convenience plus package adds very useable options. Got about 4K discount/rebate off sticker so I'm happy with the price. Bottom line- Camry may be more refined but lacks any emotion. Altima is more fun to drive and has a welcomed personality!

First Class Generation Vehicle
After owning a 1994 and 1998 Nissan Altima I put the new design 2002 head and shoulders above all competitors. My Altima SL 2.5 is now 3 yrs old and still awesome. Lthr, full power, 6 CD Bose sound, auto, 16" rims, etc. For looks, ride and performance it can't be beat in its class. Oh by the way it uses regular and has plenty of gettee up.

I am a converted GM buyer but have had problems with their service, and repair costs over the past several years. My last car was a cadillac Catera, previously Buicks, Pontiacs. My Altima is the first foray into "foreign" territory. 4 people at work have an altima and the styling and good looks first appealed to me.After asking all 4 people how they liked their cars I received excellent comments from all of them with a unanimous completely satisfied with the car. Ive had the car since September 04 and am impressd with the performance, styling, and everything about this vehicle

First Foreign Make and I Love It
Went from a series of 6 cyl automatics (Grand Am, Skylark sport) to this Altima with a 4, and it goes just as good, feels just as solid and is easier to get in and out of. Nice styling without being overdone. Might have gone for the 6 cyl if I wanted to spend more. I test drove the 6 and it flies, almost too much power. Make sure you know how to drive if you get a 6... but the 4 has been just fine for safety passing, highway merge and the like. No regrets except for the pride factor, as engine size is displayed on all vehicles. Might still get one someday and cede the 4 to the wife :)

By Patrick on December 5 @ 7:26 pm
Solid as you can get
This is a great car. Got the black on black and for the price nothing comes close to feeling as nice. I've owned a car from all three of the big Jap companies and while the Lexus is the best of the three the Altima is second and way ahead of the Accord.

What a fun car to drive, From the response of the gas pedal, the stability of the suspension, and the comfort and support of the sport bucket seats I look forward to jumping into the drivers seat each and every day. The car comes stock with all the after market goodies you can expect to pay big time money for. The dash is nicely laid out and the stereo produces sound that is incomparable. The seating in the rear is comfy and spacious, through the car in sixth gear on the highway and expect to get 35mpg. I couldn't ask for more in a car. Good job Nissan.

2005 Nissan Altima is outstanding!
My wife and I purchased a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5SL in August 2004. It simply is an outstanding car! The power from the 2.5 is surprising while the amenities of the SL package give us the luxury feel and handling of sedans that cost almost twice as much. It averages almost 25 MPG in city driving while getting 30 MPG on the highway. The editors of Edmunds bemoan the fact that antilock brakes are still not standard but I applaud Nissan for leaving them optional as I am one of the doubters of the safety of antilock brakes. I drive in upstate NY and I have had many vehicles with and without antilocks and I am NOT convinced you stop any faster with them. Good job, NISSAN!

GRRRREAT!
I went for the Armada, but it was to pricey. I FELL IN LOVE with my altima. It picks up faster than most cars. My friend has a mustang, and he drove mine and fell in love with it as well. I love the new body of the altima, and design. It makes you feel good driving in it.

Nissan got it right with this one
I was never a family sedan driver until this model of Altima came out. I never noticed the Altima under its prior body style (like a little compact car). The power, styling, and feel of this car is great and makes for a fun driving experience and makes you feel good to be seen in it.

Nice Car
I have been pricing and looking at Altimas for over a year. I rented an Altima before purchasing this one. I purchsed this one out of town over the phone. It was several days before I picked it up. The salesman was excellent and the car was ready when I got there. I have no complaints about the dealership. The car performs well. I do not have the excitement I thought I would with the car. I'm still driving my 14 year old car with 331,000 miles, so I've only driven this one 3,000 miles. It performs well on the road and overall, I think it is a very nice car.

Great Buy!
Originally I wanted an SE, but one ride in the SE-R changed that! This car is one of those "sleepers" as I like to call them. Roll up next to a pre-'05 Mustang at a stop light and you will REALLY suprise them!! All that boy- racer stuff aside, this car is quite comfortable and practical (being a sedan). Great looks, great performance, at a price that beats the competition easily!

Worth Your Money
I like the handling of the car. I was able to get a really good deal on the SL b/c of the end of the year. The stereo sound system isn't as impressive as I thought. I like the daytime running light feature (but I recommend NOT using the Automatic Daytime Lights b/c of over usage). Those bulbs become very costly & are not covered in basic or extended warranty.

By Gratefulphred on January 25 @ 2:20 pm

I needed a 4 door car, but wanted a performance car. This car is both. Roomy, 4 doors, and a engine that packs a punch. This baby will leave many sport cars looking at my tailights! Fun to drive, lots of standard features, and more attractive styling than Accord or Camry.

Car is fun to drive, looks very stylish, priced very well, have had no problems since purchased in July. The car has never been back to the dealer for anything except for maintenance. There is plenty of storage space, and a pass through trunk to haul long and bulky items if needed. The 4 cyl engine is very peppy.

One Great Car!
This is one fun car. It will turn on a dime and has the pick up needed to do all types of stunts if you wanted to. If traffic is in its dangerous mood for Miami ( which it most often is ) you have the ability to maneauver out of the way of an accident. I love it's immediate response, size and how easy it is to get in and out of the vehicle. One of the Best Choices I've ever made in a vehicle.

Cure For The common Car
The 2005 Nissan Altima is different from the other mid-sized cars. It feels like a sports car. It has a great sound system, and great sounding 2.5 l I-4. The example that I own is a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5S with a 4 speed Automatic transmission. It has an base MSRP of 19,500. My example has an MSRP of 23,000. The transmission shifts at just the right moments, however the shifts are very noticable. The interior is all new, and Nissan did a wonderful job with the interior. The plastics are high quality, and the design does not look cheap. The engine has 175 hp, and can make it to 60 mph in an average 7.5 seconds from a standstill. As the sticker on the car says "Cure For the Common Car".

stay away from this piece of garbage
tupperware car - beautiful to look at but build quality and materials are junk. it has been in the shop more times than i can count with a less than helpful dealership(stealership). had problems starting, ABS light came on for no reason, crank position sensor went, bouncy ride/rear shocks lack rebound damping, intermittent buzzing from under dash area, turn signals stop clicking, lots of rattles etc. Stay away from this one and buy a camry or accord.

Excellent Car
I just bought a 2005 Nissan Altima about two weeks ago and I can't say enough about the car. I absolutely love it. It is so much fun to drive, is great on gas, goes great in the snow, and its a very classy looking car. I think the price is extremely reasonable, for the quality of product you get with this car. I would highly recommend this car to anyone.

Spacious and Comfortable Car with Power
I've owned my 2005 Altima less than a week, though I had a 2005 rental before this, and that is what inspired me to buy one. I call it a poor man's luxury car - it is very roomy and comfortable to ride in. Everything is laid out clearly and well; all the controls are intuitive. The leg room is ample for a driver of any height. The trunk is cavernous and the rear seats fold forward for extra hauling room. The brakes, acceleration, everything is smooth, responsive and quick. My only complaint - it is not available in very exciting colors, except the expensive sport model red. I have the pearlescent coral sand - which looks different in varying light. I am having a spoiler added.

Great Value, Nice Style
I was really torn between the Altima, Camry, and Accord. I chose the Altima basically because of the sale price which was considerably lower mainly due to the 1500 dollar rebate. The Altima style is nicer in the 2005 model over previous years,in my opinion. Great fit and finish. More horsepower than the Camry and Accord.Good standard features included. More room than the Camry and Accord.Handling is good and things are kept simple, but have an elegant glow.Plenty of trunk space. The only "cons", if you can call them that, are ABS brakes are not standard, somewhat noisy ride, and auto tranny shifts a bit harsh. But these are very minor and are not bothersome. Besides, I like that engine growl.

Excellent Midsize car of it's class
I think this car is not only attractive on the outside as well as the inside, but this car handles great on the road. I also think that you don't need the V6 edition to get more punch when you drive. I drive the 2.5S model and that car definitely has some punch in it! When going 60 miles an hour, you don't even feel like your going that fast, even at speeds of 80 or more. I love this car so much that I hope to keep it on the road for 10years!:)

Although I have not had this vehicle a long time I find it fun and exciting to drive. The performance of the v6 is wonderful. The fit and finish is great. Nissan Altima
The Nissan Altima is one of the best cars for 2005 even though it is a foreign made automobile. They have almost gotten it right. The only thing that they could upgrade is to make the passenger seat as big as the drivers and make the change holder a bit more convient as of now it doesn't hold your change. It drives great; it corners perfect; it turns on a dime; great sound system; and lastly it has pickup you just wouldn't believe.

Quality?
I have this car for less then a year and it's been in service couple of times already. First: front struts went down at 6000 mi; Second: harsh shift from 1 to 2 gear. Feels like about to loose a transmission. Could not reproduce at service. Now nissan published bulletin that it is true. Will be taking care of; Third: Radio reception is awful. Nissan Bulletin also states that the radio unit has to be changed; Last (for now) problem: Glass in the driver's door is shaking when rolled down. I like the car even with these problems, but my patience is running out. My second car(truck) is Nissan Xterra (3 years old) and not a single problem. NISSAN. WHAT HEPPENED WITH YOUR QUALITY???

After looking at Honda Accord and Toyota Camry, this was by FAR the best of the lot. Interior size and performance made this car the head of the pack. The exteriors design if anything but boring . The Ultimate In Altima
Went looking for a black Altima 3.5 SE that was loaded, but left with only the 3rd SE-R this dealership had that year. I've got the only one in town like it. It is soooo classy yet soooo fun to drive, excellent performance, stylish, comfortable, sporty and quality built. It's everything you want in a car and all in one great package. The Honda Accord can't match it's comfort or ride and the Toyota Camry can't match it's style or quality. I get looks everywhere I go, because it is definately an eye catcher. I did it right this time. One classy unique car for one classy unique lady...ME !!

after 4 months, still no regrets
I finally bought the 2005 Altima 3.5se with leather sport package, Bose stereo system, fully loaded except for Nav. It took me 8 months to decide on a car and I am so glad I bought this one. I read lots of mediocre reviews, but I only have the most positive things to say about this car. Heard things like interior felt cheap and the stereo was poor quality. I can not agree. The stereo is crystal clear 99% of the time and picks up stations in L.A. which is 150 miles away! Leather is superb, nothing feels cheap about the car. In fact, went test driving some B.M.W 's with a friend and we both liked my Nissan better! It's roomie, sturdy, powerful, and classy. 100% what I wanted!

2003 Nissan Altima
It has all the bells and whistles- ABS,6 in dash CD changer, moon roof, etc. This is the 3rd Nissan we own. After only owning the car for about 6 months, the car would not start because of vapor lock because it was cold outside. The climate/heat system keeps the front window foggy if the A/C is not on. The front defroster takes a too long to work. If you are stopped at a light and you have the heat on, the air starts blowing cold until you start moving again. The moon roof only has one button to open/close it and it is very cumbersome to close it. When I've had problems with the car and brought it in for service the dealership can never replicate the problem and is generally unhelpful.

Road noise
This is my first Nissan after driving Camrys for longet than I care to think. Was shocked on my first outing on an interstate because I thought the car coming up on my drivers side was going to hit me-my mistake...just all the road noise coming through the door. Not as quiet as a Camry for highway driving but not noticable at all if you do as much city driving as this one gets.

Some Dissatisfaction
Hood and truck are plastic. A magnet will not adhere. Stick shift sometimes difficult with the "zig-zag" configuration. Seats uncomfortable. Speakers not great. Radio/clock dial hard to see. The worst was salesman told me my 1st oil change was free, but upon reporting for that appointment, I was told the first oil change was never free. That was an aggravating waste of time.

Don't buy a Nissan
I just leased an Altima fron All- Brands in hackensack njin feb/05. The car had problems with the ignition switch right from the start. I brought it back twice but the dealer didn't fix anything . THEY ACTUALLY LEFT THE CAR OVER NIGHT IN AN UN-FENCED UN- ATTENDED LOT WITH THE KEYS IN THE CAR AN THE DOORS UN-LOCKED and they say they'll need about a week to fix the car. That means that a month old car will have been in their shop for more then a week. They won't give me a loaner and they won't spend the $ to get the needed part fedex'd. Talk about a company that only cares about you until they get your $!-Thats NISSAN. THis is my 3rd Nissan but its my last.

First, I want to thank and recommend Edmunds to everyone. I shopped using their pricing quotes and I wasn't disappointed. I was able to get $1600 below the TMV, which at the time was below sticker just by using their price quote service. I bought the car back in August '04, I was switching from a full size SUV (Tahoe) to a car mainly for the gas mileage. I was looking for something economical but that still had some power like my truck. I found it in the Altima. This car is great. I love the power and the handling. It looks sleek both outside and in. I got the 3.5SL and it's everything you would want in a car. I now drive an hour each way to work and I LOVE IT. Stereo really jams!

The Best Car I Have Ever Owned!!!
Originally looked at the 2.5 Altima but needed more "pick-up" with acceleration. The salesman suggested the 3.5. I drove it and loved it! There was no looking back at the 2.5...I love the look of the car, the comfort AND room inside; the reliability cannot be more satisfying. I felt for the price that I was paying, I was getting a lot of car and more. My friends and family are jealous. They all want one now.

Buy One, You Will Love It!
I have had my '05 Altima for a couple of months now, and I love it. It handles great, rides comfortably, gets excellent gas mileage, and has a great new body style. If you are trying to decide between similar cars, choose an Altima, I promise you will love it.

2005 Altima SL
I wasn't really looking ot buy a new vehicle, but with the gas prices being so high I started to look (owned a 2001 Ford Escape XLT 4x4 - gas guzzler). The Altima caught my eye because of the exterior design along with the many features it has. I instantly fell in love with the Altima and it handled with ease on my first test drive. Like all the safety features along with the Homelink remote.

Sweet car
Recently purchased black 2005 Altima 3.5SE with 5speed. Traded in family minivan and couldn't be happier. Room is aplenty. Has two personalities- family sedan and adrenaline-juiced sports car. Styling is sweet both inside and out.

This car is way under-rated
I am a huge Nissan fan (my last 5 cars have been Nissan). My last car was an '02 Maxima 6spd, and I loved it. This car is every bit as nice, and cost me $2k less. Nissan made huge improvements on the interior for '05. If this interior would have been in the '02 model, I would have bought it instead of the Maxima. The engine is powerful, refined, and nice to listen to when revved. The design if very attractive (I have the Sonoma Sunset with dark smoke tint windows) and get's lots of looks. On the rare occasion that I let my wife drive it, she doesn't want to give it back. Nissan did a great job on this one. So far quality has been excellent (as I knew it would be).

The Best Car I have Owned!
In Sept. 2004 I bought a 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE. Lthr SPrt Pkge, Satin White w/ Charcoal Lthr. 5-speed Manual. Really liked that car but could not handle a manual any longer. Traded it in with 7k miles in Feb 2005 for another 2005 3.5SE, this time however I got the Auto with Manual mode (won't be missing my 5spd) in Sheer Silver w/ Charcoal Lthr. I now also have a Navigation system (My White one didn't). I also added the chrome wheel exchange. I also got the side spoilers which make the car look much better. I've owned a total of 4 Nissans: 01 Altima SE, 03 Maxima SE, 05 ALtima 3.5SE (Manual), 05 Altima 3.5SE (Auto). They have all been great cars with no problems. Highly Recommend Nissan!!

My new Altima
I've had the car 3 days now, and am very impressed with it. The interior is way above what I thought would be available from a low cost Nissan (like my last car, a Sentra was). The ride is very smooth (consider I'm comparing it to my Sentra SE), and the car seems tight and quiet. It seems very peppy, and the engine is totally silent at 70 mph (as is the interior, except for road noise). No wind noise. The fit and finish appears to be very well done, with no blemishes noticed thus far.

Love my Altima
I have had a couple of minor engine problems, which were covered by the warranty ofcourse. But, overall I think this is a very beautiful car, very roomy for my 3 kids, and quick for a 4-cylinder!! The price was the reason I jumped on this one! $22,000 was a bargain.

By Brill on March 14 @ 1:06 pm
Good overall
Needs a better reading of the clock and radio stations, there is not enough light behind the numbers. The numbers should be in readable color, like green or red, not black on a dark background. It is a major drawback in this car!

This is my second Altima
I purchased a second Nissan Altima last December replacing my 1997 that had been hit and totaled. The 2005 has improvements that show Nissan listens to its' customers. The windows can be opened and closed without turning the engine on, the back seats fold down wider allowing larger items to fit into trunk, the trunk opens wider and lower, a larger "donut tire" is given, the key lock on trunk with sliding Nissan cover has been eliminated. My logo cover on key lock on my 1997 fell off long ago and all the other ones I have seen on other cars are broken also. They got rid of those plastic hub cabs that cracked and fell off. Plenty of compartments to hide stuff.

4 door sport sedan
After test driving and going over the specs of 6 cars, I decided for the Altima, I got the SE with the leather sport package and XM radio, and let me tell you its a sweet ride. Its very comfortable, the seats are supportative with multiple adjustments, the leather looks classy, and even tha back seat is roomy with the front seats adjusted for a 6 footer. The styling is modern and it looks fast just standing still, that was one of the main reasons, and the other the engine. Its like a turbine, quiet, and power delivery is right now wihtout any fuzz, you floor it to pass and in a blink your doing 80mph, awesome. The other main reason for choosing it, the fuel economy, has me impressed,26mpg.

Great Car
When I bought my Altima in 2004 I actually had to buy a 2005 model, there were no 2004 in all of So. Calif. I am so pleased and happy with this car. The performance is wonderful, the lines of this car are so beautiful. I just hope that they don't change anything on this car for a while. It is perfect.

Pretty from the outside ugly in the insi
Well let start off by saying that this car is a very nice lookin' one and I could have not been any happier to buy the car. As long as I can remember when I first saw it..I was like "wow I have to get one of those!!" But now that I own one; it's so different from what I really thought it was ......to what it really is. Not only this car made so cheap from the inside and but it also cheap from the outside. Our top of the line "Bose" radio hasn't been working right. Our car has shut off completely while we are driving on the road. Has Nissan fixed it? Ya like 5 times. But guess what it still happens. Many our car was just one bad apple. I should have stuck with Honda.

Love my car
I wanted this car for over a year. I was driving a 2004 Sentra and passed that down to my husband for his econo car. The car handles great, looks great, and the gas mileage is better than what is on the sticker. My 17 year old son says the back seat is very comfortable. I would recomend this car to everyone I know. It has been a dream to own. When I need to get another car I plan on getting the fully loaded 3.5 SL maybe in about 4 or 5 years. I still need to break this one in. Billie Martellaro

Owner
I have had this car since December and researched MANY others prior. This 4 cyl operates like a 6 and is good I am getting 25-18 MPG. I have been a Mazda purchaser sinc 1988, so this is a new experience but so far, so good! The only thing I notice is some sort of fan that has a "whining" sound to it -- mechanically it operates great.

My Altima...My Love!
This is the best car ever! If you're looking for an affordable, yet long lasting car, this is your best offer. This car is absolutely great on gas!! I've only had it for a little over a month and I've had to fill it up only three times! It's powerful and heck, it looks great.

good bye Honda, hello Nissan
Recently purchased the 3.5 SE and really enjoy it. Plenty of power, great interior design (aside from not being able to see the radio display in sunlight...but nothing is perfect), and aggressive exterior styling. Impressive mpg performance thus far considering the large engine. I'm currently getting around the same mileage as my '99 Acura Integra LS. Say goodbye Honda, Hello Nissan

I really like this car....
This car lives up to its reputation as a fast vehicle with lots of features. I am very happy I chose the SL model, as it has every option I was after (especially leather and sunroof). I traded in my 2000 Altima, and what a difference between the two cars!

What a kick!!
I am so surprised at the zip, fantastic interior. Be careful when you push on the gas pedal, it will surprise you. Nissan does not reimburse for handicapped equipment and I almost did not buy it for that reason. They need to get in the real world with all the other auto companies reimbursing up to $1000. for handicapped installs. Love my car

Great Car, Overall
I love the car. It looks great, feels great, and drives great. I am a little disappointed by the absense of standard ABS. I even upgraded and have SIDE airbags ... but still no ABS? I also don't like that when you click the lock button on the key fob one time the horn honks. You must press twice in most cars for this. It's bad when I park at 2:00 am in my apartment parking lot. I do think, however, that this car is terrific for the money. If you're looking at a Sentra, dive the Altima first... a lot more car for not a lot more money.

3 Weeks and counting
I've had my 2005 Altima 2.5S for 3 weeks now, and it just keeps getting better and better. Some creaks and rattles when I hit a bad bump, but other than that is as tight as a drum. The ride is great, and my break in mileage is over 30 mpg highway. Seats are very comfortable. It's big, comfortable, rides nice and quiet. What more can you want from a $20k car?

Better than an Accord or Camry
Look forward to driving this car every time I get into it. Sweet engine with lots of power. Bose radio display on dash hard to read while driving. Very roomy interior. Same platform as Maxima. Large trunk space. Style of tail lights takes getting used to. Only looked at Altima, Camry & Accord because of reliability history in this class. My wife loves to drive this car much more so than our previous Subaru Outback. Needs dual climate control for driver & front passenger. Outside temp. display should be mounted where other than just the driver can see it. SL model should have 17" wheels like SE model. Rear wheel road noise does enter cabin area, needs improvement. I've listed all nit-picky.

Altima Review
It's a great car for the money and so easy to drive! I considered purchasing either the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord, but neither came close to the performance, styling and overall value of the Nissan Altima. New for 2005, Nissan did a great job on the styling of the front-end and interior! Much improved over the 2004 model. Everything seems to flow very nicely with fit and finish as opposed to the Camry and Accord, where everything is a bit more “clunky.” The 5-speed automatic transmission is great, you can either have the car shift for you, or you can elect to bang through the gears under high acceleration yourself, seeing 0-60mph under just 6.0 seconds! The gas mileage is awesome with the

I Love My Car
After over six months of driving my 2005 “Majestic Blue” Nissan Altima, I still can’t wait to get behind the wheel – even if it is just to the local Wal-Mart! I still can’t believe I am driving a car so beautiful inside and out. Love the sunroof, all of the steering wheel controls, and that get- up-and-go which enables a quick and safe merge into Nashville’s fast-moving traffic. (Anyone who has driven in Nashville would also appreciate the “stop-on-a-dime” set of brakes!!) The trunk room is great and with the fold-down seat, I have transported 8’ lengths of quarter-round back to Home Depot.

Lovin My First New Car
Car is great!! Very affordable and did not have to deplete my budget. Handles very well. Plenty of leg room front and back. I originally wanted the majestic blue, but ended up with the coral sand. This color is just as good because doesnt show up dirt that bad and can camouflage scratches/nicks as compared to dark colors. I got the Convenience Plus Package w/ mine which inc. sunroof. Love it!! Floor Mats have the Altima Named in them for an added touch. Coral sand also has wood grain inside to give it more appeal and it definitely works!!

How Do You Spell Relief, It's Altima
This is my 2nd Altima. I had an 02 model that I gave to a family member. I didn't really want to give it up, it's such a great automobile. My other car was a Lincoln and the Altima rides just as good for a lot less money to purchase and maintain. After the Lincoln I had a Mercury SUV, which was expensive to operate, so I traded it for an 05 Altima. My eldest son has bought three (3) altimas in the last year. The bottom line for all of us is: it's so much car for the price, plus the maintenance costs are reasonable.

I love my altima
This is the first car I've bought new and I absolutely love it. It's fun to drive, quiet, good on the highway and in traffic. The only complaint I have is the gas pedal is a little touchy and it's easy to go fast.

Entry level sedan?
This car has overwhelming power with its 3.5liter V6 which will get you from point a to b faster than the desired Nissan Maxima for a cheaper price. and exterior styling.I recommend upgrading to the premium sound system which is definately worth the price. Standard options such as cruise control, remoteless key entry, cd player, and ac set this entry level sedan apart from the rest.

Monterey Nissan
Has a really great look about it. Great color combinations. V-6 has nice acceleration to pull you out of traffic situations. Nice gas mileage on the road for a V-6. Warms up fast. Spacious trunk and heated seats great for long distance driving. Would be nicer if the turn radius was tighter. View past the 90 takes some getting use too. Bose speakers very nice, great bass. Leather interiosr has a real sense of quality about it. Seating just a little stiff. Rain on roof a little tinny. Navigation package factory insatlled only, too bad. Wants to go fast, slips through the air, quiet ride at freeway speeds. Great service from dealer.

Awesome Car!!
Just got mine yesterday and loving every minute driving it.The car is real SHARP looking! Even with my neighborhood littered with Altimas, mine still turns heads. The Sheer Silver with the chrome accents on the door really puts an exclamation point on an already gorgeous car. Also like the new alloys for 05 and the redesign of the interior.

Must be one of the best values today.
This vehicle represents a lot for what it costs. This 4 cylinder is as peppy as it needs, comfortable and fun to drive. The looks of this car still brings a lot of positive comments in parking lots. Now that I have put 30# miles on it, 2 annoying things are happening. 1: Rear brakes are squeaking. 2: Periodically I hear a rattle somewhere in dash area, which I cannot touch to stop in order to have the service department to fix it.

I am particularly pleased with the safety features that Nissan had put into the Altima. I was driving my car when I was hit by a tornado. The pressure and debris caused all the glass in the car to break. I did not receive a single scratch or cut. I also love the performance of my Altima. It rides smooth and accelerates on command! My only dislike is the road noise. It can be loud on certain pavements especially on the interstate.

By Sacramento SDV on December 31 @ 8:13 pm
Aggressive Styling
I knew I was going to get an Altima but didn't quite know which model. Cost was a major concern so I initially wanted the 2.5 with sports package. After some thinking I decided to go with the 3.5 SE because who can so no to 250 horses? I thought the SE-R was out of my price range but its awesome test drive and aggressive looks begged to differ. After more consideration I chose the SE- R. I figured it was worth the extra dollars a month to get a vehicle that has all that you want with a truly UNIQUE look.

Altima 2005 2.5S 4cyl w continental 16'
I have had my altima for about 9 months and every thing is great except the tires. The continental 16' tires developed a vibration problem and I had to replace them at 13,000 miles. No alignment or balance problem, just severe cupping. My advise is to have the dealer replace these tires at the time of purchase with some other brand.

2005 Altima not as good as they say
The car is fast for a 4 cyl but the AC compressor comes on when you press the fan button to recirculate which kills the performance a little and greatly affects gas mileage negatively. Nissan does not see it as a problem even though you can't shut the AC compressor off unless you shut off the ignition. The AC vents not well designed have limited adjustments. The floor boards are very weak and rattle at times. The chrome shift-plate tends to shine the sun in your face. The stock radio is very cheap and has poor reception. The front nose is hard to see when parking. Fun to drive but Nissan saved a lot on cutting corner. Poor gas milage but a cute car your choice to buy.

By Razjr1 on June 27 @ 5:26 pm
You've got to try it!
The 2005 Nissan Altima is by far the best vehicle I've purchased in my 50 years of buying cars. This sports edition is not only extremely stylish, but also is outstanding in performance. I urge everyone to take a look at the Nissan line, test drive them, and dare to compare to other makes and models. Quality, Comfort, Excellence. All conspire to make your driving experience a great enjoyment!

Upholstery
My husband has had 4 Nissan trucks in the past 25 years, two of them still going. This is my second Altima. I love the car except for the upholstery. It's been in 2 times for ripples and puckers in the driver's seat, problem with material. The passenger side is doing the same thing but the dealership won't replace it - says it's not bad enough yet.

By Carlos Pena on July 3 @ 11:50 pm
I would Not Recommend
I purchased my Altima in November of 2004. From the start it pulled to the left. The dealership stated it was just how tha car haldled. As you can see by the yearly mileage that I drive alot (17837--in 5 months), so I am on the road a bit. The car handles very poorly in the rain and in sharp turns. It definetely requires a lot of caution if drivning in the rain, it is very easy to go into a skid. It overall feels to light, and the steering is to soft, which in turns make you feel as if you don't have control of the car.
